Since September 2, 2021, the day of the inauguration, residents and passers-by have been able to admire, close to the Roi Baudouin stadium in Laeken, the magnificent creation in tribute to athlete Mike Powell’s long jump world record, unbeaten since 1991.<\/p>\n

A perfect representation of the trajectory of the historic leap,<\/h4>\n

whose shoe has been created in great detail and in multiple positions, and which brings to fruition a work initiated in 2011 and built over several years with a lengthy documentary process (decomposition of movement, reconstitution of the original shoes from archive photographs, meeting of the artist and the athlete in Los Angeles in 2019).<\/p>\n

For this, the artist used products from the Jesmonite brand, known for their strength, lightness and, above all, their ability to create with extreme precision.<\/p>\n

We’re more than delighted to have had the honor of working behind the scenes on this wonderful project, and to have been able to accompany Pierre Larauza, a talented artist!<\/p>\n

Dear Pierre, we are curious, could you explain your choice for the products in the Jesmonite range?<\/strong>
\n“The choice fell naturally on this range of products when I learned of their many advantages in terms of resistance and precision. I also appreciated the ease of use and the richness of the pigmentation work. Finally, its non-toxicity proved to be a definite advantage, compared with epoxy resin, for example.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you have any tips you’ve learned in the course of your work that you’d like to pass on to others who want to work with this product? <\/strong>
