JesmoniteAC84 is a fast-setting, acrylic polymer-modified cement-based composite material.<\/span><\/p>

Jesmonite\u00ae AC84 combines the best of the 2 AC100 and AC730 ranges: the beautiful fluidity of the former with the subtle, robust grain of the latter.<\/span><\/p>

  1. How much do I need?<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

    Pouring mix: 1800 gr to fill 1 volume of 1 liter.<\/p>

    Laminating mix: 1m\u00b2 will consume 1.8 kg per coat.<\/p>

    1. Mixing ratio by weight<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

      Liquid 1: Base 5<\/p>

      Ex: 100 gr liquid for 500 gr powder<\/p>

      1. Mix<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

        Using a FLAT SPATula or the blender Jesmonite<\/em><\/a>slowly add the powder to the liquid while mixing at low speed.<\/p>

        When you have finished pouring in the powder, gradually increase the speed (1000 rpm) and mix for a further 30 – 45 seconds, until the mixture is smooth, fluid and lump-free.<\/p>

        TIP: Do not use whisks or mixers intended for cooking.<\/p>

        1. Pigment<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

          A wide range of colorants Jesmonite<\/em><\/a> is available and can be mixed together to create other colors.<\/p>

          Do not exceed 2% pigment addition. Ex: maximum 2g of pigment added per 100g of Jesmonite A+B. <\/p>

          It is advisable to pigment the liquid (maximum 20 g for 1 kg (A+B)) before adding the powder.<\/p>

          1. Filling the mold<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

            Pour a small amount of the mixture into the mold and brush all accessible surfaces with Jesmonite. If access is difficult, rotate the mold so that the mixture spreads over the entire surface. <\/p>

            Then fill the rest of the mould.<\/p>

            Make sure you pour the mixture in a thin vein.<\/p>

            Lightly tapping the mold can also help air to escape.<\/p>

            1. Demolding<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

              Depending on the environment, demolding can take place +\/- 2 hours after casting.<\/p>

              1. Surface finish<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

                Jesmonite\u00ae AC84 is designed to give a stone finish. This is achieved by acid blasting or shot blasting. <\/p>

                The product can only be acid-etched after a minimum drying time of 24 hours.<\/p>

                An acid such as hydrochloric acid will act to a greater or lesser degree for 1 to 4 minutes. The gentle method with white vinegar requires a room to be immersed for at least an hour. <\/p>

                The more the surface is in contact with the acid, the rougher the result will be. When you’re satisfied with the grain size, rinse thoroughly<\/u> with clean water to remove the acid, and dab the surface dry with a clean, dry cloth. <\/p>

                TIP: Don’t rinse directly into the sink, use a bucket.<\/p>

                1. Protection and sealing <\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

                  Jesmonite is not liquid-tight, so it must be treated with a suitable product.<\/p>

                  Use flexiguard sealer<\/em><\/a> if you want to provide natural protection for your Jesmonite. Please note: a sealer is only a repellent, a pore filler only offers effective protection in the event of short contact with a damp body, and is not suitable for objects in continuous contact with wax or water. <\/p>

                  Use colorfresh Colorfresh<\/em><\/a> (gloss) or colortec<\/em><\/a> (matte) varnishes to seal your creations. This VOC-free varnish offers transparent, long-lasting protection. <\/p>

                  For effective protection, it is necessary to apply the protection with a brush. Foams and foam brushes are STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED.<\/p>

                  1. Cleaning<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

                    Clean work tools with water before the resin dries completely.<\/p>

                    The self-timer<\/em><\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(retarder) is added to the liquid to extend the mixture’s pot life. Mixing ratio: add 2 gr to 8 gr per kilo of liquid. A test is recommended, as temperature and volume of the mixture can play a significant role. <\/p>

                    The thixotropic<\/em><\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(thickener) is added to the mixture (A+B) to adjust its texture. A 1 to 3 mm thick layer of Jesmonite can then be applied without running off the surface of the mold. Mixing ratio: Add 2g to 6g per kilo of Jesmonite powder+liquid mixture. <\/p>

                    The pigments<\/em><\/strong><\/a> Jesmonite pigments can be mixed together to create other colors. Add between 1% and 2% pigment to the Jesmonite mixture. It is advisable to pigment the liquid (maximum 20 g for 1 kg (A+B)) before adding the powder.<\/p>

                    Flexiguard sealer<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (is an effective natural repellent for fleeting<\/u> encounters with a moist body. It is applied to the dry surface and provides invisible protection for jesmonite AC 730 composite. <\/p>

                    Colortec<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (varnish) is applied to the dry surface to give a matte, waterproof finish to jesmonite AC 100 and AC 730 composites.<\/p>

                    Colorfresh<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (varnish) is applied to the dry surface to give a glossy, waterproof finish to jesmonite AC 100 and AC 730 composites.<\/p>

                    Quadriaxial fiber<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>(reinforcement) is a glass fabric used in laminating processes to produce panels.<\/p>

                    PVA<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (reinforcing) fibers are synthetic polyvinyl alcohol fibers particularly well-suited to cement-based materials.<\/p>

                    Chopped fiber 6 mm<\/em><\/strong><\/a> chopped fibers add strength to thin-section castings, and act as a filler to aid layering. A shorter length allows better dispersion in the mix. <\/p>
