Silicone Oil – Thinner, Softener & Fluidizer for RTV Moulding Silicone

Silicone oil to thin RTV moulding silicones, reduce their Shore hardness, and create softer, more flexible moulds that are easier to demould.
From : € 15,86 TVA Incl.

Description

Silicone oil is a thinning and softening additive for RTV moulding silicones. It reduces the viscosity of the silicone before casting and lowers its Shore hardness after curing, resulting in softer, more flexible silicone moulds.

Used to adjust the properties of RTV silicones, it makes casting easier, improves the flow of the mixture into fine details, and helps with demoulding complex pieces. This silicone softener is especially suited to making flexible moulds, shapes with significant undercuts, and applications requiring extra flexibility.

Applications

  • Very soft moulds
  • Complex shapes
  • Strong undercuts
  • Very fine details
  • Overly viscous silicones
  • Moulds requiring specific flexibility

Benefits

  • Reduced Shore hardness
  • Softer, more flexible moulds
  • Better detail reproduction
  • Fewer air bubbles
  • Easier casting
  • Easier demoulding of complex shapes

Process

1. Mix components A + B according to the prescribed ratio.

2. Add the desired amount of silicone oil

3. Mix thoroughly before pouring.

Pigmentation

If the silicone needs to be coloured, first mix the pigment into the A+B blend and stir thoroughly until the colour is even. Then add the silicone oil and mix again before casting.

FAQ – RTV Silicone Oil

Adding a compatible silicone oil can soften certain RTV silicones and reduce their Shore hardness after curing. The result depends on the silicone used and the percentage of oil added.

A suitable silicone oil can reduce the viscosity of the RTV mixture and make it flow more easily during casting, especially for reproducing complex shapes and fine details.

No. Compatibility depends on the silicone’s formulation, particularly its polyaddition or polycondensation curing system. It is recommended to check the manufacturer’s guidelines and run a preliminary test.
