Description

Jesmonite® AC730 stone effect: architectural composite material

Jesmonite® AC730 is a fast-setting mineral composite material, formulated from an acrylic polymer-modified cement base.
It reproduces the authentic look of natural stone while offering a lightweight, high-performance, and durable alternative to traditional concrete.

Formulated without alkalis, it limits efflorescence, features low alkalinity, and, after surface treatment, low permeability, ensuring long-lasting color stability.

Distributed by Finres, this product is part of a complete service and is compatible with other ranges, such as Jesmonite AC100 and Jesmonite AC84 resins, depending on finishing or mechanical performance needs.

Jesmonite® AC730 stone effect applications

Casting decorative pieces

  • Decorative molded objects: trays, candle containers, vases, bowls, tableware, coasters

  • Furniture

  • Sculptures

  • Statues and garden ornaments

  • Facade elements and decorative cladding

Lamination with fiberglass reinforcements

Jesmonite® AC730 is perfectly suited for thin structures reinforced with quadaxial glass fiber, allowing for the creation of:

  • Architectural panels

  • Wall coverings

  • Lightweight self-supporting structures

  • Large-scale elements with reduced weight

Jesmonite® AC730 application guide

  • 8 pre-tinted mineral shades, compatible with powder pigments
  • Low shrinkage and excellent dimensional stability
  • High compressive and flexural strength
  • Lightweight material compared to traditional concrete
  • Impact and weather resistant
  • Compatible with molding and lamination
  • Solvent-free and VOC-free
  • Fire resistant – Class 0

Technical and aesthetic benefits

  1. Quantities and coverage

  • Solid casting: 2,000 g / litre

  • Lamination: 2 kg / m² / mm thickness

  1. Mix ratio

  • Liquid: 1

  • Powder: 5

Example: 100 g liquid to 500 g powder

  1. Mix

  • Gradually pour the powder into the liquid

  • Mix with a flat spatula or the Jesmonite High Shear mixer at low speed, then increase to ≈ 1,000 rpm

  • Final mixing time: 30 to 45 seconds

  • Setting time: 20–25 minutes

  • Warning: do not use a blender or whisk

  1. 1 Casting into a mold

  • Apply a first coat with a brush to all surfaces to be covered

  • Finish filling the mold with the remaining Jesmonite

  • Gently tap the sides of the mold to help release air bubbles

  1. 2 Lamination with quadaxial fiber

  • Apply a Jesmonite gelcoat (1 to 2 mm)

  • Lamination in successive layers

  • Recommended final thickness: 5 to 6 mm

  • Average final weight: ≈ 12 kg/m²

  1. Demolding and curing

  • Demolding: approximately 2 hours after casting

  • Drying time

    • Over 90% of mechanical performance achieved within 24 hours

    • Store in a warm, dry, and ventilated area

    • Keep flat to prevent warping

  1. Etching to achieve the stone effect finish

  • Etch after at least 24 hours

  • Hydrochloric acid: 1 to 4 minutes depending on the desired effect OR white vinegar (immersion ≥ 1 hour)

  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water immediately after etching

  1. Protection and waterproofing

Jesmonite® AC730 is not waterproof.

Make sure to choose the right sealer based on your application.

Jesmonite Calculator

To calculate the quantities and proportions of Jesmonite you’ll need, first select the relevant range. Then specify whether you’re calculating based on a mold or a cast piece. If calculating based on a mold, place it on a scale, fill it with water, and enter the amount into the calculator. If calculating based on a cast piece, weigh the piece and enter the information into the calculator. This will give you the quantity of liquid and powder needed to make your part.

Enter a value to start the calculation.

Additives

Retarder to increase working time

Thixotrope (thickener) to adjust the mix viscosity

Flexiguard Sealer is an effective natural repellent for contact with moisture

Penetrating Sealer provides long-lasting protection for AC730/AC84 against stains, water, and dust

Colortec (matte sealer) for a waterproof matte finish

Colorfresh (gloss sealer) is applied to a dry surface to provide a waterproof gloss finish to Jesmonite AC100/AC730/AC84 composites.

Quadriaxial fiber (reinforcement) is a glass fabric used in laminating processes to produce panels.

PVA (reinforcing) fibers are synthetic polyvinyl alcohol fibers particularly well-suited to cement-based materials.

6 mm chopped fibers provide increased strength to thin-section castings. A shorter length allows better dispersion in the mixture.

12 mm chopped fibers provide increased strength to thin-section castings. Longer lengths offer greater tensile strength.
