Description

PMC™-790 is a Shore 90A industrial polyurethane elastomer designed to produce very hard, strong, and durable parts. It offers excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance.

It is particularly suited to industrial rollers, wheels, guide rollers, belts, mechanical parts, wear-resistant protections, and other components subjected to repeated friction or stress.

Despite its high hardness, PMC™-790 remains a true elastomer: it retains good deformation capacity with an elongation at break of up to 550%. Its very low shrinkage also enables precise, dimensionally stable parts to be produced.

Applications

  • Industrial wheels, rollers, and castors
  • Conveyor rollers and components
  • Pulleys and drive parts
  • Bushings, bearings, pads, and wear parts
  • Buffers, stops, and impact protections
  • Abrasion-resistant coatings and protections
  • Heavily stressed elastomer mechanical parts
  • Durable moulds and dies for concrete and prefabrication
  • Polyurethane coatings and parts on metal substrates

Advantages

  • Very high hardness: Shore 90A
  • Excellent abrasion resistance
  • High tear resistance
  • Very good impact resistance
  • Elongation up to 550%
  • Very low shrinkage
  • Good dimensional stability
  • Suited to intensive industrial applications

Application Instructions

  1. Prepare a clean, dry, and properly released mould.
  2. Pre-mix component B.
  3. Measure A and B at 2:1 by weight or volume.
  4. Mix thoroughly for approximately 3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom.
  5. Degas under vacuum if necessary to obtain bubble-free parts.
  6. Pour slowly at the lowest point of the mould.
  7. Allow to cure for 48 h at approximately 23 °C before demoulding.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

With a Shore 90A hardness, PMC™-790 is a very firm elastomer. It remains elastic, however, and can achieve approximately 550% elongation at break.

PMC™-790 is harder: 90A versus 80A for PMC™-780. It also has higher tensile and tear strength, whilst PMC™-780 remains more flexible.

Yes. It is specially designed for industrial applications requiring excellent resistance to abrasion, impact, tension, and tearing.

Not necessarily, but vacuum degassing further reduces trapped air. Pressure casting can produce parts practically free of bubbles.

Polyurethanes are sensitive to moisture. Tools, containers, fillers, and substrates must be perfectly dry, and packaging resealed quickly after use.

Yes. After curing at room temperature, post-curing at 65 °C for 4 to 8 hours improves its physical properties and performance.
