Find out how to use Glassroxx!

Discover all the steps on video :

Materials and Tools Required

Step 1: Preparing the Jesmonite mixture

Weigh Components:

  • Use a scale to measure the quantity of Jesmonite liquid and powder in the recommended ratio.

Mix Liquid and Powder:

  • In a mixing bowl, first pour in the Jesmonite liquid. If you wish to pigment your Jesmonite, do so at this stage.
  • Gradually add Jesmonite powder while stirring continuously. Use a stirring stick or spatula to blend the powder into the liquid until you obtain a homogeneous, lump-free consistency. The use of the Jesmonite blender ensures better results.

Step 2: Adding the Glassroxxes

Incorporate Glassroxx :

  • Add the desired quantity of Glassroxx to the Jesmonite mixture. The quantity depends on the desired aesthetic effect. Mix well to distribute the Glassroxx evenly in the mixture.

Step 3: Pouring the mixture

Pour into the mould:

  • Pour the Jesmonite-Glassroxx mixture slowly and evenly into the silicone mold.

Eliminate Air Bubbles:

  • Gently move the mold to allow air bubbles to rise to the surface and burst. You can also lightly tap the sides of the mold. Don’t hesitate to pour the mixture in several batches to distribute the material between each pour.

Step 4: Demolding and finishing

Dry and unmould:

  • Allow the mixture to harden for the time recommended by the manufacturer (generally between 30 minutes and 2 hours).
  • Once dry, carefully unmold the piece.

Sanding :

  • Lightly dampen the workpiece to facilitate sanding.
  • Use sandpaper or an abrasive sponge to sand the surface and reveal the Glassroxx. Work gently to avoid damaging the part. Sanding is done in two stages: the first time with a more abrasive paper/sponge, followed by a second time with a softer material (e.g. P60 or P80 to reveal the material and P150 or P180 to homogenize the surface).
  • sand until the surface is smooth and uniform, highlighting the brilliance of Glassroxx.

Finishes :

  • Protect with a varnish if you wish to seal your piece. Or use a spray varnish to enhance the colors.

Conclusion

And now your Jesmonite piece with Glassroxx is ready! Now you can admire your unique, sparkling creation.

Practical advice

  • Safety: Wear gloves and a mask if you are sensitive to dust or resins.
  • Cleaning: Clean your tools and work area immediately after use to prevent Jesmonite from hardening on surfaces.
  • Customization: Experiment with different quantities of Glassroxx and different types of molds to create a variety of designs.

Enjoy your creation!
